CANSI Ski Instructor Courses
Keith Nicol is offering CANSI ski instructor courses (not be confused with the NCCP courses for the coaching of bunnies / jackrabbits / and racers ).
Any club would like to have a CANSI Level 1 course this winter they should contact Keith so that he can schedule it. He has have already had 1 request from St Anthony but other clubs may also be interested. Last winter 2 courses were run in Labrador City and Goose Bay. A CANSI course is a 2 day course and we need a min of 6 people and a max of 8-9. This course trains skiers to be entry level ski instructors so that they can run basic ski lessons for skating and classic skiing. These lessons might be given to adults or kids in your club. Skiers need to be able to do the diagonal stride, double pole, snow plow turns and 1 skate before beginning the course. This video shows these techniques .....http://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=IxNI26GFXHs. The course cost is $190 per person and the host club needs to supply accommodation, meals etc for me. CCNL has a budget to offset some or all of the travel associated with the course.
Contact me by email (see the Executive tab) or phone at 709-639-1770. I have also posted many other x-country ski technique videos on you tube and they can be viewed at k2nicol channel on youtube.
